My life was changed forever in 2015. I was fortunate enough to visit a little village called Praiano, on the beautiful Amalfi Coast. As I took my first breath of its warm sea air, my soul let out a big sigh of relief…I was “home”. My soul was at peace.
Now it’s one thing to have found ‘home’, it’s a totally different thing to actually living there – especially when its across the other side of the world. I keep going back: drawn to its charm, its authenticity, to the characters that live there. I have ‘family’ there now. One day soon I hope, it will be home in all senses of the word.

However, there are a few pesky hurdles I must overcome before that can become a reality. I’m sure you can guess what one of them is…it’s always about the money!
Whilst general living expenses are ok, accommodation can be very expensive on the Amalfi Coast and so I will need to find a way to support myself whilst I am there. Jobs there are typically seasonal and are therefore not really an option. An online business of some sort would be perfect – I can do that anywhere and I am not taking a job from a local.
And so…the Urban Pixel co was born.
Look around you. How many people do you think are settling? Probably a hell of a lot. People settle into okay relationships, okay jobs, okay friends, and an okay life. Why? Because okay is comfortable. Okay pays the bills, and provides a warm bed at night. Some people are fine with okay, and guess what? That’s okay. But okay is not thrilling, it isn’t passion, it’s not life-changing or unforgettable. Okay is not the reason you risk everything you’ve got for the smallest chance that something absolutely amazing could happen.Unknown
I have always loved to create things and I was ok at writing at school (many moons ago) but this is totally new to me. I don’t think for a minute I am any good at this …I have so much to learn re design, writing and business in general but I am really excited at the possibilities. I will keep you updated as my journey “home” continues.
Wish me luck…I just might need it!
